Reclaiming Timber from the Reservoir
As a cost reducing measure, the trees of the area were not cut before flooding the reservoir. Today DMG Hardwoods is cooperating in the salvage effort to reclaim the sunken forest.

RECLAIMED SLABS
Brokopondo Reservoir
The Brokopondo dam and reservoir was built between 1961 and 1964. The dam was constructed in order to provide electricity for a bauxite processing plant. About 75% of the dam's electricity was used to power refining operations and the remaining portion was used to power Suriname's capital city, Paramaribo.
